Union Savings and Loan is proud to announce they are expanding to Rushville, with a new bank planned for State Road 3 and US 52 on the south side of town.

Construction is to commence in the Spring, with a planned opening later in 2019.

“We are extremely excited about extending our service to the residents of Rush County, as well as providing better service to our existing customers in Connersville and Greenfield,” says USLA President Melissa Myers. “This is the fruition of much consideration by our Board and Management for the strengthening of Union Savings and Loan, and setting its course for decades to come.”

USLA is a community bank, founded in Connersville in 1892, and still locally owned and operated today. It has only expanded to another community once before, Greenfield in 1997. Then in 2003 the bank added a second Connersville location, on 30th Street in front of Kroger. The new Rushville bank will help USLA serve customers across a unified geography of Fayette, Rush, and Hancock Counties.

“We felt that Rushville was a community that would be receptive to the community bank model, as well as be convenient for many residents of eastern Indiana,” says USLA Board Chairman Mark Boehmer. “We’re excited about the new bank being convenient for many commuters between Connersville and Greenfield, as well as Greensburg, Shelbyville, New Castle and Indianapolis.”

The new bank will be at 131 South Main Street, on the lot of the former Mr. Freshie donut shop and the adjacent vacant lot. The location is near many other businesses, just to the south of the CVS Pharmacy, and across the street from Kroger. The building is being designed by Josh Marszalek of Rural Valley Architecture and Design Services.

Now in its 127th year of operation, USLA is known for its “old school banking” style, with generally higher CD interest rates, and face to face contact for loan approvals. USLA also has a full service Trust department.

“We are very happy to join the Rushville community,” says President Myers. “Everyone in Rushville has been very helpful and encouraging towards the project, and we can’t wait to open our doors and begin serving Rush County customers.”
